SNAP Support Update March 12, 2008

Hey everyone, Monday nights meeting was great. I am really excited about joining Lakeshore. If you couldn't make it and are interested I will get you info or check out www.lakeshore.org . There is an Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00 am. There will be an area designated for SNAP. This hunt is put on yearly by the Kiwanis. It will be at Sparkman Park, on the back side. This sounded great to me because it is usually hard for Clara to keep up with other kids during Easter Egg hunts. I think that we will be on pavement, so this is wheelchair and stroller friendly!! I was thinking it might be fun if you all want we could take the kids and go get lunch afterward together. Maybe Mc'ds or something? Just an idea. Also, those interested in getting a big hand cycle, let me know. There is a grant program that I found out about at Lakeshore, Clara's is ordered and on its way! The next meeting is scheduled for April 21st, at 6:30 at Sparkman Civic Center. One more thing, On April 5th and 6th, Wal-Mart is having a grand opening for Lawn and Garden Center. There will be all sorts of things going on there and they expect a pretty good crowd. They have offered to let us do face painting that weekend and the proceeds will benefit SNAP. I have 4 face painters, but it would be great if we had a couple of people there to tell people about SNAP. We will be there Sat. 10-5 and Sun. 1-5. Please Let me know if you are available to help. Thanks, Shohn

SNAP Support Group January 2008 Kickoff

Hi everyone, I hope everybody is doing well. We had a super meeting last Monday night. The next one is set for March 10th at Sparkman Civic Center, 6:30. I hope everyone can make it! We are planning a Valentines Day party for the kids next Monday, the 11th. It will be at Cici's pizza at 6:00 PM. Stephanie Lovelady has called ahead and will be going by to pick up coloring pages for the kids to color, so that their meal will be free! She spoke to the manager, and he is happy to have us and will make all accommodations necessary. I hope that everyone can make it. This should be lots of fun for us and our kids! Let me know if you think that you might be able to make it so that we can give them a idea of how may to expect. Feel free to call or e-mail ant questions or suggestions. Thanks , Shohn- 773-1619/345-1619
